Zeta potential is a physical property exhibited by any particles present in colloidal state. Titration where zeta potential is to be measured is called as zeta potential titration. This is used for heterogeneous systems like colloids, emulsions and suspensions.
The particles in colloidal systems carry electrical charge due to their ionic characteristics and dipolar attributes. Each particle in colloidal system is surrounded by oppositely charged ions. When voltage is applied, particles travel towards oppositely charged electrodes. The potential where particles tend to aggregate is called as Zeta potential.
Zeta potential is defines as electrostatic potential of particles disperse in colloidal system and used as an indicator in zeta potential titration.
